R Stirlem First Owner of BEX389 ??
A potential lead to confirm the first owner ? That is assuming the manual came with BEX389 when it left the Factory ( 20th December 1957) and wasn't bought years later by R Stirlem whom passed on his Manual from a different Ace Bristol. or was bought at a garage sale or recently purchased on ebay.
It is a potential lead. But requires more research to authenticate , prove and definitely confirm R Stirlem is / was The First official Owner.

Last post by RJE - September 03, 2024, 15:33:59Alan Faulkner-Stevens (dragonwheelsrestorations.co.uk) has done many conversions and restorations and could undoubtedly organise this for you. I think conversions that use the MGB steering column tend to use the VW Beetle turn indicator switch but I am sure someone more knowledgeable could confirm this.

I am the proud new owner of a 1987 Autokraft Cobra MkIV (AK1201) and one of the things I am planning to do is to change the dash setup. It has actually already have a makeover to look more like the AC 289 MkIII configuration however they used the old Autokraft dash as a donor and although it generally 'looks the part', dimensionally, it is all wrong and I feel a car of this magnitude should have such an update done correctly with attention to detail (see pic)
So I am looking to replace it with a 'correct' 66/67 AC 289 MkIII dash template and wonder if there is anyone who makes the aluminium templates for the Autokraft car. I already have the gauges etc so really only need the aluminium panel although a complete dash with correct gauges and switches would be very much of interest.
Failing availability of that I would also consider a Shelby MkIII Roadster dash instead of which I have seen a few conversions already on the net, including original factory upgrades.
Additionally could you tell me what 'indicator light switch' is normally used on the AC 289 MkIII? It is something else that will need replacing

BEX389 has a flat windscreen... .. Make sure if buying Second hand, the soft top is for a Flat Screen Ace not a Curved screen Ace.
Last but not least Good Luck with your quest for pre 1968 History on BEX389, e.g. first owner /s.

I recently purchased an extremely original 1957 Ace Bristol at the RM Auction in Monterey, see https://rmsothebys.com/auctions/mo24/lots/r0156-1958-ac-acebristol/. She was stored for 41 years, from 1970 until 2011. I am missing a few items (subsequent post!) and would love some additional information. The car will not be restored anytime soon, if ever, but will be fully reinstated to original as well as being mechanically 100% in order.
For one, I would appreciate a list of the contents of the tool kit, as well as a picture or two? I have sourced a replica of the tool bag from Liverpool Works already. Feel free to point out non-original items (the front indicator lights for example.) We have already sourced an original set of PF700 Lucas.
