Having recently begun my projected, brakes are now more or less settled and 4 wheels are now being prepped before tures are acquired. Its proving more costly than I imagined so I'm looking for a reasonably priced source of 16 inch tyres - and a spare wheel!

   Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Karl  try Vintage Tyres on 01590 612261  I got my 17 inchers for about £94 each  last year. They were Waymasters and very good tyres they are, very quiet running and hardly any screeching on cornering.

You could also go to 16inch Taxi tyres in 175/85x16 Radial as I did and do many Riley owners with 16 inch wheels often about £80 a pair, you would still need to use a tube and a good dusting of french chalk.

I used these on a 1952 Riley RME with V8 power at over 100mph for more than 7000 miles  on original Riley front wheels and no problems.

   Cheers  Gary
A car is only original once, but, you can modify it as many times as you like.

My car my rules.

Thanks Gary
With my wheels now away being shot blasted and stove enamelled I'll pass the taxi tyre info onto the local chap who's doing that work for me. Leo Archibald has my front wheel cylinders for possible recovery, otherwise, at a pinch, I can revert to the earlier single leading shoe type.
Body restoration now beginning from the front bulkhead backwards.

Have just had super service from Ravensengher tyres whom I found on ebay when looking for taxi tyres (thanks for pointing me that way). Bought 4 tyres for £30 each plus delivery charge of £21 for all. Arrived next day!

Now it's on to carpentry, an Strange's drawings and website proving very informative.

Having just bought 4 new taxi tyres I've been offered 4 little worn cross ply tyres and tubes 6 inch x 16! These were taken off a Riley only last Saturday, a few days too late to save me quite a bit of cash.

Anyone interested at £80 the lot (collection free or plus carriage from Lincolnshire)? If so please reply via forum.
