Hello,

Can anyone help me with the quantity of gas in the air conditioning system please? I asked my local garage to recharge the system but they tell me that this is not possible without knowing the quantity.

Many thanks.

Most vehicles have a plate that states the gas weight required. Have you had a hunt about to find it?
Or does the handbook  say anything in technical specs section?

We had already drawn a blank on both of those unfortunately. Has anyone else noticed a plate on their cars?

I suspected a Granada system but can't be sure.

Considering the engine is a 302 (I assume), then a mustang system from '93 - '95 may be more likely.

Hello,

As mentioned in my article in ACtion, a couple of editions ago, I have got my air conditioning up and running.  My local classic car specialist garage said that the system should have 750 grams of R134a refrigerant.  That is what they put in and, when I have got the heater control turned right down (check that the heater valve in the engine bay is actually fully closed), the air conditioning is suitably chilly.

Hope that works for you?
