Pascal,
We reused the hinged part of the hoop so my old ones are no good.

Have a look at www.brasscraft.co.uk. They do parts for Cobra replicas but will know whether the hood hoops for an Ace are the same.

Ben

Pascal,

Thank you for the lead to Liverpool Motorworks. My tools are currently in an old wine box so I could use the upgrade.

As to the size of the spanners mine are:
1/4W-5/16W
7/16W-1/2W
1/2W-9/16W
5/8W-11/16W

While all Garrington Merlin they are of two different styles and I doubt whether they are original to the car.

Regards,
Ben

Yes, understood, Barrie. I jack the car up, using a position that the leaves separate to some degree, then use graphite grease and push between the leaves using a palette knife. The gaiters are then used to cover again and keep out the dirt, grit, salt etc.

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / Front wheel bearings AC 2 litr...
Last post by GSouthee - September 06, 2024, 17:17:57
I have a number of front wheel bearings for 2 litre saloon/Buckland.

Both inner and outer bearings. Also a set in in front hubs ready to go.

These bearings are now nigh on impossible to find and if you do they a mega expensive. I had been saving these for my ol' girl but as now on Disc brakes using Jag hubs and bearing I do not need them.

So available for offer of £40 a side or £70 a full set. The hubs with them already fitted £90.

They are in excellent condition.

Will post any where just ask.

Cheers

Gary

Just to complicate this thread I would point out that one of the desirable characteristics of the leaf spring is self damping. Obviously by virtue of the friction between the plates sliding over each other. Less important on the more modern cars with effective dampers and A.C. certainly wrapped their springs in Denso tape in the fifties and sixties, however maybe worth noting in the case of earlier A.C.s ?

I have a fully refurbed 3/4 inch master cylinder for 2 litre saloon or Buckland.

I have removed from my 2 litre as fitting 1 inch master cylinder to suit my disc conversion.

The 3/4 mc will fit all models and give better braking.

Offers of around £100 for this very rare mc.

I will post abroad.

I have more pics if you want, in excellent fully working condition.
