Peter.
If you want to go down the route of geting an AC Engine re-built, I have a spare crankcase, crank shaft and most other bits to give you a good starting point.  I recently had an engine built for my Ace by Brian Taylor who, in my opinion, is probably the best AC engine man in the UK. He did a fantastic job on my engine.  At least that would maintain originality.  Worth a thought.

Jonathan Parker.  Could we have a chat about how you fitted an OD unit to your Lightweight gearbox.  I would like to do the same.  Thanks.  Roy

Jay.  Have you spoken to David Sanderson about your car?  He may be able to supply more information.  I have his contact details if you need them.  Roy

It is expensive.  You can buy them from the AC Owners club via Brian Gilbart-Smith for less than half that price.

I agree totally with Robin Woolmer about Brian Taylor.  Brian has built a 2 litre engine for me and he definitely knows what he is talking about.  I have said this before but there is a certain person here in the UK advertising his Services in the AC Owners Club who is completely useless.  I know, I was very nearly taken in by him!  Buyer beware.  Anyone advertising a cam sproket with such a large degree of ajustability and not seeing the potential pitfalls of such a design simply beggars belief.

AEX726.  My 57 Ace has an AC Lightweight Gearbox without an overdrive.  As you probably know, only a handful of these gearboxes (six or seven)were made and have TR internals.  I too intend to fit an overdrive unit and I believe there is an ACE owner out there that has done just that.  That owner should not be too difficult to trace.  You also must bear in mind that the gearbox tunnel is a lot different to that of a Moss box car.

I'm 44 and have a 57 Ace, AE206.  Don't know if that makes me a typical AC Owner but I absolutely love it!!

If anyone has an old moto-lita wooden steering wheel for an ace (preferably with the boss) then please let me know. Thanks. Roy

Does anyone have a spare set of float chambers for a set of H2 Carbs off an AC Engined Ace?  I have a set of carbs that require refurbishing but they are missing the float chambers.  Were these fitted to any another car.
