I think as an Aceca in good nick, it would be £45k - £65k... £135k is pretty rich for a 'no story' Ace Bristol, but for this seems WAAAAY out to me.
   I`m only guessing these figures with no recent references...if I`m off the mark, someone please correct me!

   Maybe there weren`t any salvageable bits left over!
   I presume the processes involved & costs of a total resto on an Aceca would be a fair amount higher than an Ace, what with more body, more seats, wooden dash etc.
   
   It would be nice to know some more of the history behind this Ace(ca); maybe we have been a little too quick to judge?

Not being familiar with vehicle registration in the UK, I have to ask; how did the # DMT 70 move from AE 1172 to BE774? Perhaps the answer is within the thread but I missed it.
   
   Doesn't a change to rack & pinion involve the removal of the portion of the chassis that contains the stamped VIN #? That is true on early Cobras.

It`s possible to purchase an existing desireable registration, from around £50 - £Stoopid (go on, guess before you click the link.... you will be way off!), and then, for an £80 fee, to transfer registrations from vehicle to vehicle, (with various conditions, of course see here: The DVLA).

I had thought the credit crunch may have knocked down the price of registration numbers and thought about participating in the recent DVLA auction. The number D1 was up for sale and I though it might now be a low price and could be a nice present for Dee. However, it would appear there are a lot of people that have not had their credit crunched (yet). I very quickly changed my mind about the intended purchase and decided to buy Dee a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers......The number finally sold for more than £320,000.
