I am renovating a 1971 model and ask if there is available a front windscreen and gasket. Not too many contacts here in Australia thus any help would be very much appreciated.

Mark IV

I understand these are the same as the Maserati Mistral. You might try that channel or do a search for "Frua" and related parts. I had the joy of working on a RHD 428 fastback and driving it some. Fun car.

Not to sure about Mistral screen as I've heard 428s' are quite a bit wider.Brian Eacott managed to get a convertible door glass for my coupe.Tel/Fax 02083978472.Have'nt got an e-mail.                                                                                    Dave

For 428 Frua spare parts especially body panels and other larger item contact  " Andy Shepherd " If he hasnt a Windscreen he almost certainly has the right contacts to get one exstock or knows who can supply one very quickly.

   Send him a email......shepherd289@aol.com

   or fax Andy on    00 44 (0) 1932 351 285

When I was in the Maserati Owners club we often heard that rumour (ie that the 428 and the Mistral shared parts)  It turns out that it is not the case.  The two cars have nothing in common (apart from: beauty, style, grace, speed, class etc etc)

In Fact, Rick, Keith and Mark Anthony I thank you all, now it is time to hunt.

As of right now the windscreen and gasket are intact but they are going to be removed to allow for respraying and there is a risk of damage.

   Gentlemen again Thanks.

Apologies accepted, Genuine mistake,  However, my message re: spares, especially body panels and other odds & sods held in storage by ACOC, Please contact Andy Shepherd (and one or two other members of ACOC) I do believe have some sort of inventary of items, plus a listing of suppliers of various components that make up a  AC 428 Frua. Exist.

There are a few Club members who have actually started formulating listing /s of suppliers of parts for AC Cars of various years, also listings of components that are interchangeable with other cars.  Identical and readily available at substantially cheaper price as they are not always associated with Marques such as AC , Aston Martin or Ferrari.

If we could create a filing system for all  AC enthusiasts  to contribute, it could save hours of searching, save us all £s, $s & Euros and keep help more ACs on the road & track.  Yes, out of those heated garages.  All ACs were built to be used and enjoyed both on the Road and track.all year round......Enjoy ! !

there is a company in Australia that will make windscreens for any car.my maserati mistral has one that was fitted by a previous owner in Victoria-will post the info when i get it if you like. would be interesting to get the basic dimensions ofthe 428 to see if it is the same.
Did you find your 428 in Australia ? i was looking for one as a mate to my Aceca but ended up buying the Maser with a 289 Ford in it, so it is very similar to the   428

Great idea re the filing of parts lists for AC Cars of various models.  I remember well paying peanuts for 4 disc calipers for the 4 jaguar calipers used by my '68 Maser when Maserati Parts Co wanted a small mortgage for the identical part - the only difference being a Maserati box!!!  Same for a second hand diff' (actually a standard Salisbury unit) £1500 from Maser as salvage and unrestored, £750 rebuilt with choice of gearing and fitted and garanteed by Salisbury!

Perhaps the Registrars could keep lists for the cars that they cover.

Hi Kenn,
I found the car via a guy called Terry Healy who owns an outfit called Oltimers Australia based in Brisbane and specialises in sports and racing cars.
He found the car in a garage in Canada, how it got there I have no idea, the car has not been driven for maybe 15 years but all in all not in too bad a shape. The motor has been completely rebuilt along with the transmission, now stripping and rebuilding the four corners.

Peter,

I had been looking at the 428 on Terry's website and when I was in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago I went to his showroom and he told me he had sold it!!! to a guy in Sydney - must be you.
My name is also Peter and I live in Sydney - would like to see the car in real life (not just a picture) when its finished.

Hi Peter,
Yes I bought it, the car is undergoing an extensive renovation about a years worth but I think it may be worth it.
I would be more than happy to show you the car when completed.
I actually live on the Central Coast and have offices in Sydney.
   Cheers
   Peter

Actually, this not completely accurate, the Mistral and the AC 428 share the little quarter windows on the  doors! same part!
