Hi all
The sills need to be replaced on the 428 and it's proving difficult to find anyone in my area willing to fabricate any.Does anyone know if there are any replacements available, unlikely I know,or are they really hard to recreate?
Maybe everyone I've spoken to is really busy and they don't need the work.

           Thanks in anticipation

Hi Dave

Can't help on the sills afraid, but could you help with your chassis number as I'm not sure if it's on the Register or not ? I seem to remember you saying you've got a coupe presumably with automatic transmission ? Any other info on top especially any pics would of course be much appreciated [:)]

   Thanks

Dave Hi, I am afraid you are going to have a problem finding sills! you need to find a very good metal smiths who can make them out of flat steel. The sills are actually quite intricate with four layers. I have some photos if you are interested. Regards, Emmanuel

Hi Emmanueld and Paul
I feared it would'nt be easy as everyone that looks at it seems to take a backward step.Pictures would be very much appreciated. Are they on the thread of your rebuild or do you need to post them/send them seperately. Many thanks for the information
The car is CF58,coupe and automatic. It had a chassis and engine rebuild about 10,000 miles ago, done by the previous owner, and I've had it since 2003.Had the bodywork rubbed down and resprayed(except for the sills)and rechromed everything apart from bumpers.Doesn't have a front grille, which is why I couldn't help Englishman on his request. Will try and post pictures, but never done it before,so don't hold your breath.

According to an old version of the 428 register the sills from a Hillman Hunter are "almost identical"....may be worth a try.

I doubt it very much, these are custom pieces and they are probably different on each car!

Hi David,
You don't say where your area is.  Are you near the Home Counties?  I am having my 428 Frua convertible rebuilt by a company just south of Reading & they are doing the sills without a problem - not cheap, though!

On another topic, I'm looking for the quarter light chromes, anyone got any ideas?
   Cheers

Hi Paul,  I had given my details to Andy some time ago, so don't know if I am on the register.  However, looking at your link, it would appear not.  Also the info seems incorrect.  Mine is cf34.  The original number was WYF 101G, not the AMY number on the list.  It is currently being rebuilt, having been off the road since 1979!  I changed the number plate in 1974, when I bought it, to 3 HTD.

   Cheers

In the 'Identifying Frua Parts' thread you mentioned CF32, do you have both, or is it a typo?

Typo I'm afraid!  Wish I had both.  34 is mine.

Hi Paul,

As soon as the restoretion is complete, I'll send some piccies.  All I have at the moment are some very old ones or just the shell stripped down in the garage!
