I am getting to the end of my restoration of AK1099. I still need an original owners handbook and the Wheel Hex nuts.

If anyone has any ideas....

A mkiv sold on bringatrailer.com last week, and one of the comments was from a chap that wanted to sell a set of hex nuts.

Two LH hex nuts but not a complete set are available in Swizerland together with an owners manual.

The seller is asking 450€ for the manual, too expensive and I think it is a later manual for EFI cars.
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler!

If you are contemplating building up a  Harlequin set  of 2 x  LH & 2 x  RH  Hex AC Wheel Nuts, Please be aware  there were  two different size versions
used by AC Cars.

Not sure of the exact size and /  or why  there were two versions, I helped source a set for Constant Wagner three / four years ago and he might be able to confirm the difference in the  two versions.

Cheers

One major difference lies in the thread. I have to dig into my files to see what I had found out at the time.
Hub thread patterns have changed at some point in time.
Question: were early Mk IVs equipped with hexnuts or did they come with spinners only? Maybe hexnuts were only used on the later Mk IVs so there may be only one thread pattern for hex nuts, while there were different patterns for spinners.

My findings with different spinners and hex nuts used on my hubs:

AK 1106 had hex nuts and spinners, a different set of set of hex nuts I bought from AK 1093 fits as well.
Back in the days owners could order spinners "in the trunk" directly from Autokraft since the beginning if the delivered cars needed hex nuts to fulfill regional legal requirements.

Aluminum Spinners from TRIGO borrowed from Hobo's car (AK 1073) and a set of stainless steel spinners from www.cobraracing.com also fit to my hubs.

The stainless spinners are made to fit 60s 427s, are equivalent to Shelby 3011R-L/R  and fit to my car without any problem.

Cone aņgle on all spinners I tested and used was 60°.

It would be interesting if the spinners and hex nuts from Hobo's AK 1073 and AK 1450 are interchangeable !

I presume you have tried Redline in the U.K. and Hawk Cars? My 3 ear phosphor bronze spinners are from Redline. They are maybe better than the nuts. I have two sets of wheels, the original Autokraft 16" and also 15" wheels from Hawk, made from the Autokraft dies, not destroyed. The spinner cone angle is correct for both.

Happy New Year to all,

there is  a never used handbook for early EFI cars on Ebay since month.

The price is ways too high and the german seller did not accept a former 140 € offer.

If you want, I  can assist and get in contact with the seller, just drop me a pm.
