Ford Zephyr 2.6 with Volvo Amazon M40/M41 Gearbox

I guess someone has a Ford Zephyr 6 engine together with a Volvo Amazon M40 ir M41 gearbox. Since I have also this in may garage I have two questions about this connection:
1) do you use the Volvo bellhouse with an adapter plate between engine and gearbox or do you use the Zephyr bellhouse with an adapter plate between bellhouse and gearbox?2) do you use the standard input shaft of the gearbox or must it be extended?

This old thread gives a few ideas/contacts.  It might also be worth looking at the ford type 9  5 speed box  as a lot of the ford boys have done this conversion.
