Two books come to mind:

The First Three Shelby Cobras by Gordon Bruce

Cobra Pilote, the Ed Hugus Story by Robert D. Walker

Both books detail the early history of Cobras in the US.

The book on Ed Hugus and the early Cobra days is excellent.
Dan Case
1964 Cobra owner since 1983, Cobra crazy since I saw my first one in the mid 1960s in Huntsville, AL.

I second that, it's very good.  A little debunking in there, too.
