Can you tell me please what you mean by 7 x 1920's HANDBOOKS? Are these the owners booklets, so are all the same (or similar, though 4 or 6 cyl)??

The auctioneers' description of the counter display card by Parsons Paints was incorrect. Firstly, it's not an Acedes shown and, secondly, it is earlier than was being described (note the AutoCarriers name on the front, not the 'AC' company, the early AC logo, and it shows a 1921 four cylinder). There were only two colours offered on these 1921/22 cars so any additional, in the display pack purchased, would have been to special request.

Yes, thanks for checking.

As I suspected these are the owners booklets, titled 'Hints for Owners'. Likely the early 4-cyl one you have is for the small block with integral exhaust, and the dated 6-cyl will show the small or large radiator on their front covers (the latter incidentally would be 1928/9, though the text is virtually identical). With Bernard Garrett's interest in Veteran/Edwardian/Vintage cars maybe they were from his library as were other items in this sale. The pencil entries may not all be correct and need checking.

The early sales brochures were lovely and many produced with hard covers, very good photographs, often detailed drawings and period paintings, for example all the models shown in the 1928 issue were quality paintings. I have one of the originals paintings that was given to me years ago by the artist. Also, I have all the 1920 sales brochures except one (I won't say which, as that will only send the price sky-high!) The price for the 1925 was fair but condition for collectors can be everything and, so often with age, brochures have pages torn or missing. Good vintage brochures can fetch many hundreds of pounds.
