   From memory, CF1 was indeed panelled in aluminium alloy. The engine was also slightly smaller than the production models (a relative term!!). Again from memory, 6996cc v the production 7014cc. Hence the original model designation 'AC 427 .....' when announced at the 1965 London Motor Show, where the car looked absolutely stunning.

Just for the record, the 427 engine was a completely different kettle of fish to the 428. The former being a potential race engine referred to as the side-oiler. The latter being a truck engine with much less potential to tune it  for motorsport. Unfortunately the 427 was difficult to source and much more expensive, hence AC's change to the 428 cooking engine. The cubic capacity was not representative of each engine's power and potential.
