Hello ACOC,

Newbie here. Great website forum! I have be lurking for a little bit and I finally scored the car I have been after for years. I am pretty excited about my new acquisition and I just want to share my barn find story and also get as much information as I can about my 1957 AC ACE Bristol BEX279. Also I am looking for the original Bristol engine 612D. I have many unanswered questions so I hope everyone can help. I am sure everyone likes pictures, so how do you attach them?

   Thanks,

Hello Jeff,

Welcome & congratulations on acquiring BEX279. If you use the search function on the site you'll come across a how to on posting photos. You'll need to setup an album with Photobucket  or Flickr ect. first though.

   Regards Luke.

Thanks Luke. I was just browsing that area and will have to set an album up with a host website like Photobucket etc.

I think any web hosting site should work, I use Photobucket as it's pretty straightforward.

Is that correct how I posted it above? I can click on the link I posted above and it will bring me to the pick. But looking at the forum rules on posting attachments I don't believe that it is the correct way.

Here is the picture in question as well as one of the same car in the 1958 12 hours race in Reims.
Great that this car with well known period race history has come to the surface after a long time.

Welcome to the AC Owners Club Forum and congratulations on securing BEX279, a Ace Bristol that has slipped off the radar over the years.
May I Bold and suggest you Join the AC Owners Club via the Forum and use paypal...[:)]

Then contact Tim Isles the official ACOC Ace Bristol Registrar, who most certainly has some valuable history on BEX279 in/on the register, possibly written data to complement various period photos.

Now you have started the BEX279 History thread on this Forum I hope it generates as much information as my thread has on BEX333..

Various members in UK, Netherlands, Germany and USA regularly exchange data and furnish new material to the respective  AC registrars thus helping update and  create more accurate history on each of our AC's.

Good Luck with your Quest to establish a full and accurate history file on BEX279,   Please join the ACOC and share your future finds  and keep us updated with progress on your restoration project...

Thank you Keith For the information. I just joined the ACOC as suggested as I planned on supporting this great hobby/forum. I also read your thread, and was very impressed with the amount of knowledge on this forum. I will take your suggestion and contact Tim. I just want to follow up with a little more information about BEX279, I have boxes and boxes of parts to sort though and I am sure I will need help identifying things. The history search of this vehicle is very exciting for me to learn about.

To post photos:

   1.  Open a free account at photobucket.com
   2.  Upload your photo - you may need to resize it first.  800 x 600 is a good size ("Document Small" in some descriptions).
   3.  Open the photo in your photobucket library and on the right are 4 links.  Click on the bottom one (IMG) and it will flash Copied
   4.  Paste the link into your Forum post where you want the photo to appear
   5.  You don't have to do the next step but if you don't, the link as well as the photo will appear.  If you do this you only get the photo: edit the link to delete the parts that are before and after the [img] tags, so the link starts and ends with [img]

Great car indeed...

Not only BEX279 but also BEX460 and Aceca BE572 have been entered at Reims in 1958.
