Found the following write up of race 1 to complement the photo of Bud Anderson being pursued by Fred Rediske both in Ace Bristols.

   .
   Sunday's Race # 1.

The first 20 lap Race was scheduled to start at 13.00hrs Sunday.  The rain came at 12.45 hrs and by the time things got underway at 13.00 we were having a nice comfortable downpour.
Infact, it was more like a monsoon!. Bob Spooner repeated his performance of Saturday and had the lead before the pack got to the
first turn, with Jim Jeffords close behind in the purple corvette.
By the time Jeffords got his car through trcky north turn, Spooner was going away heading for the wiggle.

Bruce Schattschneider came up fast after an excellent start and on the second lap passed Jeffords who was having troubles keeping the car going in the right direction in the rain.

Ralph Durbin , who had been going like gangbusters in the team Arnolt Bristol brought his car in on the fourth lap with mechanical difficulties,  Jeffords too, retired on the fourth lap with a combination of overheating and wrong tyres.

Bob Gates got off to a bad start, but on the fifth lap he was right behind Mack Yates in a similar Corvette.  Bud Anderson ( # 8 )passed both of them in his Ace Bristol, but on the eigth lap Gates found the groove and got into third place where he remained for the rest of the race.

Whilst this was going on, Fred Rediske ( # 54 ) was steadily working his way through the heavy traffic, and on the thirteenth lap caught up with Bud Anderson.  For two laps they went round like they were tied together until the fifteenth go round Rediske found an opening and took over fourth place.

At the finish, ( 20 laps ) it was still Spooner ( #33 ) way in front with Schattschneider second, Gates third ( #28 ), Rediske fourth  and Bud Anderson fifth. ( Grid of 37 cars )

Not sure who scribed the report but it related to the  publish photo.

Thank you guys so much for the information! This really helps define the history of BEX279. Is Bud Anderson still with us? Does anyone have any additional information on him?

   Thanks,

   Jeff

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update. The car is getting naked! Lol [:D]

velocityss1985

This is definitely a tedious job. But will be well worth it in the end. The car has been painted at least 3 times.
As you can see the original Svecia Red is still there.

velocityss1985

I have met so many nice people thanks to this forum. I also got in contact with the original owner Herb Jones and he is going to gather some information about "our" car! [:D]

velocityss1985

What do you think this was on the trunk? If you look back at the picture where the car was racing at Reims you will see it on the trunk? Some type of racing modification? I am going to ask Herb when I talk with him next.

Jeff, Competition Number light for night racing. Probably the small Lucas dome shaped number plate light L534/53705 or sometimes they used the same light as the number plate light on an Ace L467/56790. However there were also other variants, sometimes handmade. Get the magnifying glass on those old pictures.
