The AC Owners' Club are once again very pleased to invite you to this year's AC Owners' Club Clubman's Sprint Meeting, to be held at Goodwood Motor Circuit on Saturday 1st November. The event will continue the format of previous years, with a number of different AC and non-AC classes competing under MSA Sprint rules and regulations.

We would love to ensure that we once again we have a full complement of AC members in AC cars competing in what promises to be another fun, exciting event. Of course, AC owners are also able to support the event in a non-AC car if they don't wish to dirty their pride and joy or if their beloved AC is currently off the road.

To obtain an entry form and event information pack, please contact Bruce Claassen (Secretary of the Meeting) at bruce_claassen@hotmail.com or on 07958 570 718.

As always, your support is very much appreciated and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Goodwood!

Thank you for emailing entry forms,  will duly complete and return after GoodWood Revival.
Could well use BEX this year instead of Barry's Lotus Twin Cam Anglebox.

Just a quick update on progress and to ask that if any of you are still intending to participate but have not yet sent off your entry forms, to please do so sooner rather than later!

I'm hoping that it's simply due to everyone being a little late with their paperwork, but with less than 6 weeks left before the Sprint we currently have only 4 ACOC entries.

It would be a pity to be under-represented at our own event, hence please send in your entry forms, dust off yer overalls, fill up yer tanks and head on down down to Goodwood!

Hi all, an update on the Sprint.

I'm sorry to say that with only 2 weeks to go until our event we have a fairly low turnout from AC Owners, as follows:

   1 Aceca in class 5,
1 Ace Bristol in class 6,
   2 TD cobra's in class 11,
   1 3000ME in class 14,
1 MKIV Cobra in class 15,
1 Brooklands Ace in class 16,
6 non-AC cars driven by ACOC members in class 17.

With a minimum of 3 cars required in order to run separate classes, we will most likely need to combine the above entries into hybrid groups unless we have an increase in participants, which would be unfortunate.

This event is really fun, relaxed, and can be run at any speed that you choose, hence there's nothing to be afraid of!  We cater to all AC models and all levels of ability.  However, it does require active participants in order to keep this event on the club calendar.

In case you're hesitant about bringing your pride and joy onto the track with other cars, be aware that cars are set off at separate timed intervals, with no overtaking allowed, hence there is almost no chance of an on-track collision.  It's probably safer than driving on public roads, plus you get to soak up the atmosphere of Goodwood's track with spectators cheering you on from the fences and pit wall.

Hence if you are planning to attend but have not yet posted off your entry forms (or are sitting on the fence still deciding), please do so asap.  If you have any questions, please contact me while we still have time to get things sorted.

   Regards
   Bruce

Hi Bruce,

The November sprint offers a terrific opportunity for all members to experience their cars potential in a relaxed and controlled environment, however the cost for the first timer can be prohibitive.

   Entry fees £120.00
   MSA Licence £43.00
   Crash Helmet £185.00+
   Overalls £290.00+
   Gloves £75.00+
   Boots £120.00+

Of course, once you have your kit you would be inclined to enter again in subsequent years so the actual cost per year should be prorated, but the fact is this kit still represents a significant initial outlay.

It occurred to me that there may be UK companies that hire racewear to the general public but this seems not to be the case, for future years would it be worth speaking with Mythril Racing to see if they could help?

Mythril are based at the circuit and lent overalls and helmets to the general public at a charity track day I attended in the summer so may be interested, perhaps the club could assist with any associated cost?

   Keep up the good work.

Perhaps this event could become a track day in future years? Is there any reason it needs to be a competitive sprint? A track day would entice more AC's onto the circuit with a decent number of laps each time. This format seems to be very popular within other car clubs. The real pain with the competition status is the required gear/minor mods to the car to meet regulations. Unless you are planning on doing a full season of events it does not really make any sense. A track day would really open things up to the wider membership as a one off each year.

Aside from this, thank you for all your hard work and it would be nice to get more AC's out there. I have always enjoyed this event over many years and will be in a position to compete next year.

Hi all, an update on the Sprint.

I have just finished sorting through the entries received over the weekend and will be sending out the provisional starting grid to competitors this afternoon.  We have 53 entrants signed up, which is only 1 short of last year's field, a nice result.

In summary, AC Owners' Club classes:
Class 3,14,16 (Buckland, 3000ME, Brooklands Ace): 3 entries
Class 5,6 (AC Aceca, Ace Bristols): 5 entries
Class 11,15 (TD Cobras, MKIV Cobras): 4 entries
   Class 17a (non-AC cars 1950's): 4 entries
   Class 17b (non-AC cars 1960's): 6 entries
   Class 17c (non-AC cars 'moderns'): 4 entries

In total that's 26 entrants from the ACOC, great!

In the non-ACOC classes we have:
Class 18 (Aston Martin OC): 6 entries
   Class 20 (VSCC): 6 entries
Class 21 (BMW Historic Motor Club): 3 entries
Class 23 (Frazer Nash Car Club): 4 entries
   Class 24 (BARC): 3 entries
Class 25 (Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club): 5 entries

We have a fantastic mix of vehicles participating, with some equally interesting drivers.  At present the BBC is forecasting a dry day, starting at 14'degrees and rising to 17'degrees with some sunshine & light cloud - perfect Sprint conditions.

As always, spectators are very welcome to join us - entry is free, including full paddock access and the opportunity to have a 1-to-1 with any driver who you feel needs encouragement or 'advice' on how to go faster!

To our 'usual suspects' photographers, I hope that you will once again be able to join us to capture those 'moments' in order to share the evidence with the wider community afterwards.

Food & refreshments will be available throughout the day to help keep energy levels up.

Drive safely, see you at Goodwood on Saturday!

I wish you all an exciting coming w/e. Unfortunately the event always clashes with All Saints w/e when over here we honour the memory of deceased relatives. So cannot join you.
Alone the badge would be worth the trip.
   Have fun and safe driving.

C9OBY

Hi Constant, I'm sorry you can't make it, but as always you're a great support to all of our club activities.

Note that competitors all receive a badge as part of the sign-on before the Sprint, however I do have badges available for sale to anyone else who'd like one.  All money goes to the ACOC, so it's another way to support the club.

Anyone interested should contact me directly via email (or come up to me at the Sprint).  £5 get's you one of these beautiful iron-on patches.  I also have 7 left over from the 2013 event (it has a purple outer ring) for anyone keen to build up a collection!
