The comedy series 'Ripping Yarns' (written by Michael Palin and Terry Jones) - all parody, old school days, derring-do, the British Empire etc - first shown in 1977, is being re-run on BBC4 on Thursday evenings. The episode last week, 'Murder at Moorstones Manor', had a vintage 4-cylinder in some scenes.

Below, the same car, at the Thames Ditton works in the 1960's, alongside a 428 convertible. The vintage 4-cyl. 12/24 was then owned by Bernard Garrett, who had some fine veteran and vintage cars and was a stalwart of the Veteran Car Club and prominent in the ACOC at the time. He had bought the car in 1947 for £4 11s. 4d. It lay in a walled yard and a crane was needed to retrieve it! Bernard then completely restored it. The car went to Western Australia in 1980 and was on display in a museum for some years, then sold at auction in 2009 and returned to the UK.
