I read on some site about a Mk IV that had quick ration rack and pinion installed.  Does anyone have any more info along this line.  I would like a quicker ratio for use in autocross events.

It is a modified MGB rack. You should be able to get a quick rack from Moss.

Interesting.
How does it need to be modified?

My understanding it is a genuine MGB rack, but with hexagonal part added between rack and track rod ends to cope with the larger front track, but I also remember that another reference for the rack was mentioned in the part list we already talked about here...

You will have to buy a quick MGB rack I believe and then cannibalise the rack and pinion into your existing rack via a steering rack specialist. My MK1V race car has one but It was already in place when I got it.

The MKII classic uses exactly the set up described above i.e. standard MGB rack, with shortened re-threaded tie rod ends, a hex extension piece (obviously the standard tie rods are not quite long enough) and I do not know if this is applicable in your case, but the socket end of the tie rod is also machined to allow the rod increased travel.
Should anyone be interested I have the drawings for this installation
