A Mk IV is listed for sale on EBay in Florida   Shows as a 1993 "Lightweight" but has chassis AK 1385 (no "L" ).  BRG with green leather.  Short nose with flat dash but has heater vents. The first owner supercharged the engine and added a hood scoop.  Has a "Buy it Now" price of $125,000 U.S.D. or make an offer.  Here is the link.

Looks like a nice car in many respects. Low mileage. Not sure if it is a Lightweight or a standard Mk. IV that was special ordered with the flat dash and short nose.  Anyone familiar with this car?

I think it is a modified standard MK IV. Look at the bumper beam with it's "5mph shock absorbers".

Migge

Nice Kermit skin on the inside.

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler!

   I think so, too.
Other features suggestive of the car's being a standard Mk IV include:
   - position of fuel filler,
   - door panels,
   - head rest mounts,
   - reversing light integrated into body.
Unfortunately the pictures do not reliably show whether the nose is 'short' or 'long'.

Migge

BRG and similar are okay but not the carpet on this one.

   add to this:
   - standard Jag fuel filler cap (advert talks about Monza fuel filler cap)
   - rear bulkhead position

It may be quicker and easier to list the elements that are the same as a Lightweight?

As I see this they are the dash and the twin ( rather than triple) wiper set up.

Having said that it should be an interesting car as the Kenne Bell supercharger should make for an exciting level of performance - especially if, as stated, the engine has the lightweight mods.

All interesting points raised about what elements are regular Mk IV and what are Lightweight.  I seem to recollect that a customer could order a car from AC with certain features that could be different from car to car.  From the posting, it seems the original owner purchased the car from a London dealer, so it was not exactly perhaps a U.S. spec car?  For instance, my U.S. spec. MK IV had the small rubber pieces mounted on the front bumper over riders (now replaced with Hawk pieces) which this car does not have.  It has two windshield wipers vs. the three on the standard Mk IV like mine, which is shown specified on the paperwork in the EBay listing.  The flat dash seems to have been specifically ordered as well. Based on the chassis/serial number, as it does not have the "L" in the mix, it most likely is a standard Mk IV modified to have some non-standard features, such as the two vents on either side of the front grill opening.  A neat variation, but it seems that unless the EBay seller has specific knowledge that it is a "Lightweight" car, the ad is misleading.

Thank you for the link to the prior posting on this same car. Very enlightening!

This was added to the description on ebay:

"This is a Special Ordered non-Lightweight Mk.IV with most all Factory "Lightweight" cosmetic & Motor Specs !"
