I think first U.S. new MKIV arent underpriced.
At the Geneva Motor Show 1990 the MKIV are offer at 280'000 CHF
and the Lightweight at 320'000 CHF. See Automobil Revue Katalog 1990.
The MKIV have the same Swiss price as Testarossa... and one desiderable
   family pedigree, AC.
I own the #238 in Ferrari red, and I find the hand built quality, one of the best.
Please not ever compare with the MKIII or his new replicas.
The MKIV is one 80' years car and so must remain: real MKIV !
   Sorry for my  English.[:)]

Bracco ... 238 ... so our cars were manufactered close together ...have not seen many 88's ... not sure how many were prodiced in that year..  and that leads us to our next post .. production #'s ???? LOL

OK, Even though it is a genuine Lightweight, and was the AC Cars demonstrator, I think that £90k is a bit rich.
Would you have trouble getting it legal in the US with the carb set-up?

No doubt due to supply and demand. As most of the MKIVs were exported to the US, there can't be many in the UK and the Lightweight is even rarer. Add the cachet of the AC badge in the UK and you can possibly understand the higher prices.

Johan

Wow, it is going up quick!

henryr

ok, i'll buy it.  since i only have US dollars can i swap 55,000 for 89,500 GBP with you ????

O Henry,

You are like a black man at a clan rally. You have to speak highly of an AC here. It is all about pedigree. If it is not an AC, it is not "the real thing". Not a one, none. The cars that Shelby is building are replicas.

I think the black and green cars are prices fairly. The green one is from a collection with less that 1,000 mile and the black one has around 4,000 mile with two owners. [}:)]

...And you, Sir, are poking the wasp nest with a stick![:D]
This is, after all the AC Owners` Club Forum! [:p]

cobham cobra

Oh no not again [:(]
Nik, I think I might join you with a pie and a pint this time round [:D]
   Cheers - John.

Here's one of Shelby's current replicas; a glassfibre 'CSX8000 slabside' (horrible word!!)

ak1234

Ah yes finally ... the Shelby Cobra CSX 8000 in the above picture is 2 miles from my house .. I looked at this car ..and Shelby should be ashamed of himself.  So here we go ... the comparison .... this car above as compared to the MKV I seen ..there is no comparison .. the MKV is a much nicer car in both body and chassis.  Oh and for 98k you too can buy the SHELBY name as they say its an HRE Original. LOL

linklaw

Henry, there is a 1985 Autokraft MK IV on Ebay right now that fits your criteria of costing less than $60,000.00. It is AK1059.
