looking for a car in the USA.  <$60k

Jan_AC_MKIV_1227

good luck, it seems prices have moved northward over the last 6 months, 60k would be low and the car would need TLC

AK1131

Hurry Henry, At this time last year your were at 40 and the cars were at 60. Now your at 60 and the cars are at 100.

There are two up north for sale. Green and black for 100. Quit shopping and start driving![8D]

henryr

sorry but these are not $100k cars.  maybe only due to the massive depreciation in the dollar.  i'll buy a kirkham for that kind of money.

the green car is in dreamland.  at least the black looks to have some nice upgrades / options.

Jan_AC_MKIV_1227

a kirkham is a replica, a good one at that, AC's are authentic and big time sleepers in the collector car market..good luck

8 years ?  sorry, thats a complete pipe dream.  mcmicheal motorsports had a one owner red tan car with 16k miles for sale at $45K last summer.  the black on black car (bucks county pa) sold for $55k last year on ebay (seller was asking $45k a few months before but i couldn't make the trip up to see it).  and before that, i nice gent in SC purchased a 600 mile car from Ooley and Blacburn for $65k.

i'm not trying to be a troll.  these are not $100k cars.  neither the green or the black car will sell at those prices.  period.

ak1234

I offer you the best of luck ... those who snooze ...looze

The AC Cobra MkIV must be severely underrated in the States if these prices are anything to go by. $45,000 (US) at current exchange rates is £24,000(UK). You won't find a decent MKIV on sale in the UK for less than £45,000($85,000)and that would be the bog standard version (if such a thing exists!)

Jan_AC_MKIV_1227

would of should of could of, last year was a steal in the market for AC MKIV's, Henry does not get it, car prices and the collector car market are a funny thing, cars always take a severe dip after initial purchase, then they appreciate at a pace that often fluctuates, but in the end, appreciates.  replicas rarely appreciate..

good luck, sounds like you will need it

Chafford

A MKIV sounds like a good buy in the US, and unlikely to show any depreciation in future years if you need to sell.

jbottini

Perhaps, based on UK prices, any of us on this side of pond should sell in the UK and 'repatriate" the vehicles. While Henry may be right about the two @100k, he'll have a hard time buying one south of 60K, unless he catches a wife with a car she's disposing of......

Jan_AC_MKIV_1227

opinion here but it seems like US MKIV's are going in the 65-75k range now, gained about 20k in the last 12 -18 months...
