Here's the "spin off" of the ak1106 topic, in order to not disturb it...

I finally received my parts from Finish Line, and changed the gearlever...

   How it was previously :

   The parts:

I must say that i'm very pleased with the quality... The knob has the T5 pattern on it. The reverse hooker is non functionnal, but is sliding...

And how it looks now on the car :

   Looks better, uh ?

The shifting is perfect, and it doesn't foul with the dashboard... When on 1st or 3rd, the knob is at the same longitudinal level than the steering wheel. The shifting is smoother, probably because of the bigger leverage force... The only downside is that, because of the shifter boot, the 4th gear sometimes jump, but I assume if i relocate the boot, I can solve this problem ...

Thanks, Jim...

By the way, I found accidentally a non- permanent way to make the rocker switch looking better - someone asked some time ago on this forum about any trick for that - I use neatsfoot oil to treat the leather of the seats and the dashboard, and it makes the rocker switches as new ! Look at my dashboard pictures ... Jim could confirm that they were like bleached before ...and it stays as is for weeks.

    Hope that may help !

Looks great, and I actually like the tan leather aas well.

Need a chrome hand brake now though!

Always a job to be done!

   :-)

French Frie

I second you about that , and a lokar handbrake (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LOK-EHB-7000F/)  is on its way ... Hope it will fit !

REV

We'll compare notes at Le Mans 2014!

Where in France do you live?

French Frie

Rev,

I live in the south of Paris, between Paris and Fontainebleau ...

regarding the gearlever: I was on the Montlhery track (some history: http://www.montlhery.com/autodrom_eng.htm) on saturday, and had the opportunity to do some laps with AK1113... it didn't snap from 2nd or 4th on this very old and bumpy banking, so everything is all right !

Looks like your wife is talking on her cell phone.[;)]

Reminds me so much of Brooklands, but in much better condition. The weather in England is no where near as kind, so it's strange that the UK should be the makers of so many open top cars over the years. It must be that when the sunshines we need to make the most of it!

I am booked to do a trip through France in September and will go from Caen down to the Minervois and then will visit the Circuit des Remparts, Angouleme on the way back. We've been before and it's a fabulous weekend.

Do you have any more pics of Montlhery? It looks an eclectic meeting!

French Frie

VERY eclectic [;)] ! from bicycles and prewar cars to youngtimers...
pics here : http://photo.esprit-racing.com/2012/autodrome-heritage-festival-2012-1-8-3511/index.php (there are 8 pages)

I may be in Angouleme too, depending on weather and business...

REV

Haha.... It seems the whole of Paris has an old car, bus, motor bike or bycycle, and went to Montlhery for the weekend!

Talking of eclectic meets... If you're at Angouleme let me know and we'll have a beer.
