Aceca feedback needed.

I am thinking about getting an Aceca to do a little rallying out here, I would love to find out more about the car from owners! Which year would be best? Which motor? How the car does compare to the roadster etc.

I have an Aceca - RHD, really nice car. My car is setup for classic rally's and is quite good. My car use to have a Ac engine, but the second owner replaced. I have now installed a zephyr engine, might at some point change back. The zephyr I have is for road/race, it is quite powerful at around 145-160BHP, running reece fish carbs from ex-works consul.
   
   If you are not use to Aceca's then just a word of warning, check the wood around the doors, etc. If the doors "kickout" too much at the bottom, this may be a sign that the wood is rotten. Also I have fitted a rollbar for racing, but it looks OK.

Thank you John, I like the Aceca because it a coupe, more confortable for driving long distance, in order to get in these rallys, the car has to be 1957 or older! please let me know if you know of one for sale! By the way, how much does it weight?

   As you are in the US, you should get something come up every so often. Not sure the exact weight. All depends on what you have done, they are a few hundred pounds more than an Ace in weight. My car is an early 1955 [RHD] car, I like the early cars, rather than the later Aceca's.

The Aceca has been great but I am looking for an AC Cobra MK IV that would have a little more power.

Hey Guys,
   
   I am rebuilding a 1959 Aceca. Mine has the old AC engine, not the best power source of all originally supplied engines, but i am upgrading some parts supplied by AC Engine/Robin Woolmer. Classic rallies is exactly what i am after, although I will be doing some road racing aswell, knowing full well that i won't be the most competative in my class. I had a full roll bar mounted, with supports to the rear suspension tower and the front cowl hoop. This should significantly stiffen the ride. One of my doors has the " kickout" the wood is old and dry. I don't think i will re-frame them at this time. Will have Ken Miles race seat and all aluminum interior paneling. Also will convert front drums to discs and go with tandem brake system for extra safety. look for updates and photos posted on this forum in the near future. I can't wait to drive it after the complete rebuild. The thing was downright scary before with poor brakes, lousy power, rear wheel steering and a horribly worn steering box!!

Just read with interest that you have bought an Aceca. Likewise.
   I bought mine a few months back. It raced in the States as a historic in the VSSCA series and was very well known. Lots of history and quite a unique car for one reason or another
   
   I did post information on the Forum some months back but this has now gone to the archives by the look of it.
   
   I could send again plus some images of it at full blatt of a few circuits if someone can tell me how to do it via this forum.

   We are nearly on each others doorstep as I am in Surrey.
   
   You are spot on. The car I have has the Ace/early Cobra style nose. I like it very much as it works well.
   
   I will have a go in the next day or so to send some images.
   
   I hope to have the car down at the Barley Mow 'Surrey Chapter of the AC club' 3rd Sunday it Feb but I have to UK reg. it and also the Spirit Automotive boys have in their tender care for some work. So in the lap of the Gods!

   Excellent, would be good to meet up at some point. My car is nearly complete, I know a little about your car. I know Neal quite well. Excellent car, interesting history. A very quick car!! When I have my car complete would be good to meet up!
