Has anyone any ideas or suggestions on how to try and track down all of the 10 Unknown cars or entries still left on the Register as they've been there a long time now without any firm confirmation. Any information at all to help widen the search would also be much appreciated, particularly cars 02 and 04 below.

   Thanks in advance [:)]

Gentlemen, I will be receiving a set of roadster doors in the next few weeks, these are coming from Australia. Upon receipt, I will post the CF number of the car they came from. I am sure it is stamped somewhere. Could be one of these. We will know the car is no more.

Hi Paul, I don't have all the answers, but you can put 6 to rest.

CFX  2  Dubois reported had been written off in 1967.
CF   5  Listed as owned in USA in 2009.
CF  11  I spoke to the current owner in England in 2009.
CFX 27  Now owned by an ACOC member in Ireland.
CF  45  I spoke to the current owner in England in 2009.
CF 71   I met the owner in Manchester in 1999.

   All the best, Andy.

Paul - Good job!  How many have been rebodied as "Cobras" out of the total? Do you know?

Classicus

Hi Jeff, the only original info I have on all of them is contained in a post by Trevor Legate on 6 May 2008 below. See Register for any updates.

"428s to 'Cobra', that I'm aware of: CFs 23, 35, 39, 47 plus 68, of course. Methinks one or two others have been cut n shut but I can't quote numbers."

In retrospect, they have ruined their value, as a fake 427 Cobra made from a 428 Frua will only ever be worth less than a real MK IV Cobra. When these 428 chassis were hacked, the value of the Frua was so low it didn't matter, but now when they change hands for 140k plus there will be a lot of disappointment growing in various garages. Of course, the value is irrelevant until you come to sell, and for some the Cobra shape will be worth the cost.

Any chance that archives might publish the list of original 428 sales records; colour, spec, purchaser?

Hi guys,

I got the doors, they came from down under. I want to thank Peter Davis for letting me have them.

They are light green metallic and are marked 23, my guess is CF23 which was converted to a Cobra.
