MkIV throttle cable

The MkIV of one of my friends had a melted throttle cable surrounding, which causes a sticky throttle cable at 4500 rpm.
   Very dangerous.
   I want to replace the complete cable now, but can anyone tell me
   if there are safer ( I mean with non-melting materials) cables available please ?

If you have time build a linkage with rod ends:

If you don't want to go with Peters linkage have a look at Lokar, they have universal braided stainless cables and dipsticks with aluminum fittings and teflon inner tubes. If the wire is damadged one day you can replace it by a standard bicycle brake cable, because the Lokar fittings are screwed.

Go with the linkage! plus a couple of return springs for safety. It is not that difficult to fabricate, very precise and no melting business!
