AC Aceca front disc brakes.

Can anyone tell me the make of the Calipers on the front disc brakes please, I'm pretty sure that they are Girling, certainly not Dunlop. I can't find any part numbers on mine.

If original,then they should be Girling calipers. They are almost identical to Triumph TR3 one pieces calipers.

Sorry I Cannot confirm part numbers,  but can confirm the following which may be of interest .
The AC Discs and Callipers are not interchangeable with the TR3 units.
AC  Discs are 11.7 inch Dia   .....    Where as the TR3 Discs are 11-00 inch Dia.
The Girling Callipers. I am led to believe were specifically made by Girling solely for Ace & Aceca ? (Can some one please  confirm )  And are different to those fitted to the Greyhound.
The AC Calliper Carriers have different spacing to the Aluminium TR3 Carrier...

If your Ace / Aceca left Thames Ditton with Disc Brakes then you need to source AC Girling parts.
if  a modern conversion up grade  you may have TR3. 
Please note AC & TR3 Front Discs / Callipers and Carriers are not interchangeable.

The disc rotors are specially made for Ace/Aceca/Greyhound. I guess they are identical for all three kind of cars. At least BG Development doesn't differ: https://www.bgdevelopments.co.uk/ac.

Maybe you can ask them also for calipers.

Thanks Keith for your reply and I have managed to narrow it down to either type 14 or 16 GIRLING shock absorbers. I can confirm this tomorrow when I remove a Caliper as I have the dimensions for both types which are readily available from AH Spares and others.

The original caliper was a Girling Type 'B' - some competition cars had alloy Type 'BR' and many cars, over time, have replaced these with Girling 16/3. Long years ago, but I seem to recollect that the change to 16/3 needed the A.C. discs to be machined down slightly in diameter

Just received an email from a very reliable and highly respected ACOC friend.
Which I share below:

I read your post on the Club Forum regarding Discs and Calipers,  Unfortunately I believe some of the Information is  incorrect.
The  calipers definitely fit, Both the 16B solid and 16P split, although the bottom groove should be relieved for the larger diameter disc of the AC.
If the AC disc is reduced in diameter the pads will stick out beyond the disc.
Mounting hole spacing of the calipers is the same for the AC & TR.
The 1959/61 Greyhound used the same 16B Solid caliper as the Ace / Aceca,  The 1961/63 Greyhound used the 16P Split Caliper.
Girling master catalogue  uses the same part numbers for  Ace / Aceca and the TR4 1961/62 .
( I believe AC machined out the groove, But have no proof of that.  )
As you say the discs are not interchangeable

The above info is from recent personal experience and directly from my Girling catalogue.
