wow some fire ! mind you the chassis probably didn't melt and there will no doubt still be a chassis plate and registration papers so maybe 'something' will be resurrected in the future !! ??

Here is a set of papers for a Kirkham!

I just checked my register, and have photos from Belgium of a very damaged red 428 Fastback, and later of a bright new Cobra in bare aluminium, before it was painted. While I did't like the 428 being cut 'n shut, it is a shame that the bastard child met such an end. If I ever receive an application to register CFX 35 again, I'll be on the next flight to take a look as it will surely be a miracle!

The fire probably started in the engine bay of the 428!

It will be interesting to know what car this chassis comes back as !!

Although the aluminium would have melted, the chassis and framework probably survived the fire relatively intact ( depending on the level of heat generated ) albeit with some surface rust from the water hoses, if the car was insured appropriately it's quite possible that a new aluminium shell could be made and the car re-instated. Running gear and trim would be relatively easy to source for a 'cobra'. It could not be rebuilt as a 428 as the insurance would not cover this, and in any case once the chassis has been shortened it would not be fun to lengthen it again plus enough 428 parts would be near impossible to source.
