BTW - Goodwood Revival tickets went on sale this morning. My tickets are purchased. Goodwood are offering a roll over to 2022 in case the event cannot proceed.

This picture shows the original overrider and the new one.

The original overrider has a plate to hook in the mounting bolt, the new overrider has it already integrated. That would have been nice if the bolt wouldn't be too short.

I guess, using have of the normal nut is not really enough to fix the overrider. My idea is to modify a union nut so it goes through the overrider brackets in order to use a much longer way of the mounting bolt thread.

And it works ...

It's such a long time ago that I disassembled the bumper that I forgot how to mount them. The override brackets must be inside the overriders. And a spacer sleeve is needed between the overrider and the bracket. I welded the spacer to the bracket.

Now, the position of the bumpers looks much better.








I installed the battery tray

and made new clutch- and brake lines.














Also the mounting bracket for the steering column in conjunction with the accelator padel was installed.

Working on the heater ducts in the foot box



A new air duct for the foot box from an MG A. It's much bigger than the original one.

and also for the other side (not original but in summer it will be nice)


I constructed rubber seal for all of these parts in order to equalize the rough surface of the GRP foot box. You can see it. It is the clear line between the footbox and the air duct (same for the heater ducts).

19.3.2011 the Aceca arrived





Today, only 10 years later it looks not so good ...  ???

I am still alive and still work on this car (but sometimes I ask myself why ...)
All the boot panels are installed now.













The panels of the internal rear mud guards are not riveted so far but fixed with cleco pins to check accuracy of fit.




The old acrylic glass will be replaced.


The seats and the upper steering column from Ben Yates are installed





together with the nice sliding contact for the horn push button

The installation of the hatchback was a nightmare. I spent days, not hours, days (!!!) to make the right shims making the boot lid closing in the right way. At  the end end I had several shims


two of 1.5 mm, the others were 1.2, 1.0 and 0.8 mm. At the end I used none on the left side and 3 mm on the right side. I also swapped the hinges but that was a complete flop. Every time I had to remove the hinges. Took quite a long time. That's the result:

Not so much has happend during the last weeks. I worked on the steering column.









After painting it was ready for installation:

I thought it would be possible to fit the bonnet using some shims. But with the correct shims the internal frame of the bonnet  hit the main frame. So I decided to rebuild the complete bonnet.








The frame was quite twisted. I had to bend it at a lot of places.





After painting a first check whether it fits the main frame.














Now, the complex parts starts: finding the right alignment of the bonnet skin wrt. the body.






Before the skin is riveted to the frame I check again the correct alignment using the cleco pins.






And here is the result. Much better than before. I hope the painter will be satisfied with me  ;)

After quite long summer holidays I started with a little "home-improvement" project. Guess what  ;)

It turned out that it was quite more complex than expected (as usual).

Took me two weeks of work to close the wall again ...
In the meantime the differential came back from overhauling.

For the installation the output shafts must be removed

It took more than a complete day to install it


Time to install the fuel pump






Mounting the complete wiper engine was much more complicated than expected. I had to detect that the heater had to be re-allocated. The original pipes for the worm drive were dented such that it was hard to move the worm drive through the pipes. I build new one.





These pipes have the same OD as the original pipes but a bittle bit bigger ID which results in a quite smooth movement of the worm drive.
I installed the wiper engine not on the left side of the car as it was orignally but on the right side in order to keep the unit away from the exhaust header of the Zephyr engine and to get a mirrored movement of the wipers because the car will be LHD.







As mentioned before the heater must be re-allocated. A new mounting bracket shifts the heater 20 mm to the left and lowers it 3 mm. Not much, but necessary for the wiper unit.





The steering hub was polished. I love this look.
