As I am privileged to be allowed to dig in stored boxes of csx 2272 I came across a dead blow hammer which Roy assures me came with his car.
Wooden handle with a cast Tee that could be split merely by unscrewing a nut.Once split I presume you could then repack with leather and re tighten.
The question is.. Is this the hammer cobras were supplied with?
Have`nt a clue how to post pictures but if interest demands I will e mail to anyone so they can post

Is this actually a dead-blow or raw hide hammer?
I`d not heard of leather dead-blow, as they usually contain sand or metal pellets to give the anti-rebound (& extra oomph).
Can`t answer whether it`s original or not though... sorry.
There are picture posting instructions HERE, 5th post down.
   p.s. Welcome to the forum!!!

The hammer should be a THOR hammer, wooden handle with leather on one side and copper on the other side of the 'tee'. THOR is cast into the 'tee'.
   Hope this helps

Got a wire brush and found "Greene and Tweed" BASA HAMMER no. 5
If you go to the link above you can see the mallet in the background above the founders pictures
Thanks A-Snake,It helps confirm what I thought but just wondered if there were others.
Will try my luck Nik. Thanks

I have not seen a "Green and Tweed" BASA hammer with any 289 Cobra.

There is some discussion whether a #1 or a #2 THOR hammer was included in the tool kit. Perhaps both sizes were used.

If you want a great hammer for knock-offs, I would suggest the 6lb version of this lead hammer from American Hammer.

Of course it is not an original used in Cobras but it works and when you wear it out, they will recast the head for you.
