As members know from ACtion, my Aceca, BE601, is being restored. At the risk of getting ahead of myself, why should I pay circa £200 each or more for top branded 15" tyres when on the recommendation of Dave Sanderson, I could consider Vredestein Sprint Classics. An online retailer has 185/70 R15 89H tyres for £88.20 each inc VAT?

Gus Meyjes

In my opinion: you should not. I have the verdesteins and I think they are great. Wet and dry. Have not raced them, so can't speak for that.
Just bought another set for my other car.

Dear Gus,
Thanks for the reassurance that I'm not penny pinching.

I fitted a set of 180 x 15 Michelin XAS tyres to my Aceca (Longstone Tyres) last year and they are absolutely superb in wet or dry conditions -  not cheap though.
