   Some really good period pictures, the names tie in with the Ace Registers, Interesting that  initially one of the Red Aces left Thames Ditton as a White car and is already resprayed Red.
   
   Tony Bancroft and Tim Isles are investigating both cars and inputting any new data to the Ace Registers.
   
   Keep trawling the internet, it really is surprising and rewarding what can come to light.

   I'm fascinated by all the research that club members are doing and all the bits and pieces of history being unearthed. It's especially interesting when all the puzzle pieces get put together as with your ACE. You mentioned that "Tony Bancroft and Tim Isles are investigating both cars and inputting any new data to the Ace Registers". Can you (or anyone else) tell us how the registers function? I'm imagining dossiers being compiled on all of our beloved cars in a smoke filled room filled with investigators and the files being locked up in a vault at the end of each day. [;)] I'm curious about what type of information is kept and how it is filed on all our cars. I suspect it varies between the various registers of the different models.

   Now all zones are non smoking, One can see the wood from the trees and see who is in the Room.........  Seriously....
   
   The Official ACOC Club Registrars for each of the AC models should have accumalation of pictures and data on the history of each  AC model produced from Thames Ditton.
   
   Various information is held in hard copy and as time goes by hopefully each registrar puts every thing on electronically, Thereby any new custodian of a AC should be able to secure documented proof of authenticity of his /her AC or potential purchase.
   
   However this can only be acheived by club members furnishing the relevent Registrar/s with data on their  particular AC/ACs.
   
   As we all know, as time creeps by it becomes harder to track down accurate data especially on previous owners and or early race history.
   
   It is surprising how many ACOC members globally are tracing the History of their AC's especially Aces and Acecas, all new information is gratefully received and sometimes throws light on other ACs which inturn assists other members.
   
   Without this networking between like minded enthusiasts throughout England, Europe, USA and Australia I would never have gleened so much History on my Ace "BEX333".
   
   This Forum has helped many club members todate, the more it is used world wide the more accurate our records become and therefore eliminates the infiltration of the odd rouge / copy / fake  [V] AC appearing on the scene.
   
   You might, just have the missing link that opens the Pandoras box and completes the Historic picture of another AC. Please keep those pictures coming in, You never know someone reading this thread could well have that vital piece of data, that odd picture that missing link to complete the History of your AC.

   Thanks for the overview on how the Registers works. We should all be thankful to have individuals who are willing to devote the time to keeping such records. I am now interested to see what information the Aceca registrar has on my car and/or what information I can provide. The owner of my Aceca from 62 to 68 was an ACOC member (Al Snook), and I know the car left the factory as the personal car for the AC distributer in Chicago (Charles E King). At most I may have one more owner to fill in the ownership history.
   
   I agree that this forum is a great place to share information and maybe open the door to some distant (maybe not so distant) history.

The forum states: "...Duncan Forlong recieving the Checkered Flag...at Dunellon Park Road race. The car is all black with a lot of tape on the bonnet..." Well, that`s one way to prevent stonechips!

   If you do a search on e-bay using vintage bell helmet, you'll find some original ones that are pretty worn.

Thanks Jay, I'm really looking for either one with the face shield, or a separate face shield that can fit onto a vintage helmet. I actually have a couple of helmets, but the only face shield I can find like that shown is from some fancy French company and retails for $430 (that's right, just for the strap on visor/shield combo)! I'd love to get a true vintage setup like the one shown, I guess I'll keep trolling eBay.

I believe the original style came from polo helmets. In addition to the shield the helmet in the photo has a visor.
   
   There are a number of "novelty" helmet suppliers in the states who offer similar models for motorcycles.

   I believe this site has one with a small half shield attached.
   
   Obviously while these are DOT approved for bikers they would be primarily for show for cars.

That picture was taken for the 50th anniversary of Le Mans 24 Hours, born in 1923.
   
   We are in june 1973 and a race had been organized before the start of the 24 Hours on saturday morning. It was a kind of "Le Mans Legend" or "Le Mans Classic" but 38 years ago.
