Does that mean they went to a two-stage paint after the move to Brooklands?  My 88 Mk IV is clear-coated.

The spot touch up came out very nice.  Sprayed the door and blended infront of the door.  No clear.  My 88 had no clear from the factory ..wet sanding comes up green and as MARK IV states the paint is very soft .. there is some grind marks and such that are evident from the factory .. which I think can be 1500 grit and polished out ... might not be a bad idea to 1500 and clear the whole car.... damn this touch up is going to turn into a entire repaint job ...NOT! LOL

Oh, you don't want to clear Nitro lacquer, that WILL turn real ugly real fast!

I do know the Superblower we had from ACCG in 1999 was BRG and was base/clear system.
