Does it make any difference how far the thermostat probe bulb goes into the channel in the thermostat housing? See the attached picture. I'm assuming any depth will be fine as the water will encompass the probe no matter how shallow or deep the insertion. Anyone actually know?

Hi Peter,

I found on my 2 litre saloon that it works just fine with a small protrusion into the water flow. Now on the triumph engine I am still using the same probe but in a tee price in the rad pipe work and that also only just protrudes into the water flow and works as well as the triumph electric one I had fitted to check the temps.

A car is only original once, but, you can modify it as many times as you like.
