Two notable early AC cars at forthcoming auctions:
   
   (1) Bonhams have the 1913 AC, 10hp Fivet-engined (see fifteen postings down). Estimated hammer price of £25-28,000. To be sold on 3rd September at the 'Beaulieu Autojumble' sale.
   
   (2) Historics at Brooklands, have a 1922 AC 12/40, Anzani-engined with aluminium pointed-tail body (one of two survivors). Estimated hammer price of £37-42,000. To be sold on 20 August at the Brooklands track

Good price for the 1922 AC 12/40 Sports today - sold, over estimate, for £47,000 (with commission @10% = £51,700)

Regarding the radiator badges on vintage and edwardian AC's,  when I bought the dilapidated 12/40 (now in Belgium I believe) it had a radiator badge much more like that on the Fivet engined car, while restoring the car and having the radiator recored, I fitted another badge, exactly like the one on the 12/40 just sold. (Quite why I did this I cannot recall, it was over 40 years ago).  When did AC's change the badge?

The sales brochure for 1922 models show them with the encircled AC logo (but see below). The brochure issued in 1923 shows the cars, as photographs, with the encircled badge yet, interestingly, at the bottom of every page there is a picture, solely of the radiator, with the 'new' later well-known AC badge (as in the top photo). The brochure issued in 1924 shows only that 'newer' badge. The change therefore was in 1923.
   
   Some time back, in June 2012, there was a discussion in the General Forum of an interesting badge, heavier and more curved than that in the photo of the 1913 car and I suspect, though stand to be corrected, that this is the correct badge for either cars during the (late?) Edwardian period or the early 1920's. Here is is again, below. Hope this may help

Thank you,  my car origionally had the encircled badge, and was I think 1921. I seem to be incapable of posting a photo at present!
