AC 2 litre steering box lube.

Hi Has anyone used the Penrite  semi fluid steering box fluid. I know some use EP140 but this seems to highly used in MG circles and Landrover.

I am thinking of using this in the Ol Girl. If I do I will let you know how it goes.

I used it in the Daimler Darts that I have had. Never noticed any problems regarding wear and tear. Also Never noticed f it was lighter or heavier in use. Cost may be an issue, Comma EP140 from Wilco's is a little cheaper.

Have ordered it, well 2 bottles actually one for the Ol' Girl and one for the series 2 landy.

Sorry for the late response but I've been using the Penrite steering lube for years & have found it to be an excellent product. The only small problem in using it, is that it's so thick you have to warm  the bottle in a hot water bath to get it to pour. I usually take the top off the steering box when filling, rather than use the filler plug to speed up the process.

I can also recommend Penrite HD bearing grease ( much better than Castrol LM & perfect for kingpins aswell) & their graphite grease, which I use on leaf springs.

Cheers for that, however I used a syringe to fill the steering box, I did think about warming it but thought the filler a bit small, yes taking the top of would probably be better but syringe worked well.

Useful to know about the other Penrite bits.

Went out today in the Ol Girl and the steering feel fine.

So 300 miles on and the steering feels the same as before, so no undue heaviness found. I have noticed that the very slight weep from the bottom of the box has ceased, no not because it has all run out, its still there I've checked. Mostly due to the slightly thicker consistency of the product. All good.

Just a couple of thought's. 
There's another grade AG 250, this for worm drives, so safe with brass parts, and thicker, good for applications with poor sealing.
Another I've used in the past is a marine lubricant, stern drive oil, very sticky, resistant to washing off.

Just an update re Penrite fluid, over 1500 miles now, including  a run to Le Mans in 36 degree  heat no fluid loss and great steering action. All good.
