Vintage Engine Information

Can somebody help with the identification of this air cooled engine ?.
   The only markings is "Autocarrier" on the oil filler cap and 1940 stamped on the bronze holly carby. The carby does not seem to be original as the flange holes have been slotted.
   Next question, How do I attach a photo to message ?.
