What is purported to be a Cobra-ized versionof AEX198 is currently listed on eBay as item # 190595766584:

   http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1963-AC-Ace-Roadster-Authentic-Aluminum-Bodied-AC-Roadster-Cobra-Style-Mods-/190595766584?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2c60649938

It's listed as a 1963, which of course it couldn't be, and I see almost no remnants of AEX198 from the pictures, except maybe the ID plate. Everything has been changed, if indeed it did start life as AEX198. Thought you all might like to check it out for yourselves. Asking price $98,900.

This car was mentioned here in January on the 'Yet Another Ace Conversion' thread, for sale at $125k.

Erm... where did the front suspension go?

   Quoted from the description:
"AEX 198 was originally an AC-engined Ace that left the factory in August 1956. It was white in color with green leather and carpets. It was an East Coast car, imported by AC Imports, Arlington, Va. In the early 60's the car was upgraded to a Ford high performance 289 V8 engine and 4 speed manual transmission similar to the Carroll Shelby modified AC cars of the day. The car was prepared for the engine transplant by upgrading the suspension front and rear with MG and Jaguar components of the era to include disc brakes all around and the inboard disc brake Jag rear end set up which works well in this type of horsepower upgrade. It received modified flares to accept the much larger pin drive Halibrand knock off wheels and the needed wider high performance tires. The completed car was then titled as a 1963 AC roadster to reflect these changes."

Looks like a ton of work to return it to something decent or correct!

Front suspension clearly an optional extra...!!! Rides like a Morgan :-)

Hi Peter -

The car is also featured today on Bring A Trailer with lots of, mostly, demeaning feedback from the ardent followers. When the car was listed here in Phoenix this past January, I tried reaching  the seller but got no response. BaT listing can be found at:
