Does anyone have a part number for the left rear brake caliper?  I boiled my fluid today as the left rear caliper was hanging up. My car is AK1103, with an October 1985 manufacturing date.  Also, my friend needs a lower balljoint for the right front of his MK IV. His is a 1989 model. Can anyone identify the manufacturer of the front suspension or ball joint?  Thanks. John

Hi linklaw
the manufacturer of the front suspension is Autokraft. The ball joint is a SAAB part.

I am not sure, but I think the rear brake caliper is a PEUGEOT part.

John, Rear brake caliper..is reputed to be a Peugot 505 station wagon from the early 80's (shooting brake for over the ponders'), Depending on what was arround, I'm told front ball joint is a Saab part (sealed for life...they just don't say how long life is) Jim

Does anyone know where I can source a new or rebuilt right rear caliper for a Peugeot 505?  Judging by the photo on the Beck Arnley website, the right rear caliper is reversed and put on the front of the left rear hub on the MK IV. It also appears that the 505 sedan uses the correct caliper as the station wagons came with drum brakes in the rear. My friend who has been in the foreign auto parts business for 30 years has been unable to locate a caliper in the USA. While the Beck Arnley catalog shows the caliper, they have none available and have no rebuilding kits either. Any help would be appreciated. John

John, I can get the ATE part number off my car, but I suspect you already have it. There are a couple of Puegot parts houses still arround in the US that I've seen on the web.Jim

Sorry this is a bit late but if you have the same cailipers as AK1082 they are Peugeot 504/505 Part No's 4400.11 & 4400.12 (not sure which side is which). They are Girling AH12 Mk 3 types, Girling No's 64033853 & 64033854, TRW/Lucas No's BCT125 & BCT 126.

Repair Kits are/were available under Peugeot No 4449.15, Lucas No SP2582.

They are unusual calipers to work on so have a look at Chapter 8 of the workshop manual at http://www.504.org/general_GB.htm.

   Hope this helps,
