American historian needs front 3/4 picture and dashboard shots of a "long nose" 2.6 Ace from the Goodwood display in July. Here's the description of the AC focus from a PR release I received today. Anybody who sends me a digital image on a disc, colour slides or old fashioned colour prints. In return, I can send misc. b & w Cobra pics from "back in the day"

GOODWOOD RACES FROM 0-60 IN 850 YEARS

   Dear Motor Sport Enthusiast,

With just over two weeks to go until the 2008 Festival of Speed gets underway (11-13 July), Goodwood is getting into celebratory mode as it prepares to mark a number of significant motor sport and automotive anniversaries at the event, including Goodwood's own 60th anniversary since motor racing began at the famous West Sussex venue in 1948. A selection of the many anniversaries being recognised at the 2008 Festival of Speed will include:

   100 Years:

1908 French GP: For the first time since the famous 1908 French Grand Prix, a record number of the actual cars that competed in that race will be together again at the Festival.

Ian Fleming: Celebrated British author and James Bond creator would have been 100 this year. To mark this fact, we will be gathering a selection of well-known cars used by 007 in various Bond movies as part of the Cartier 'Style et Luxe.' Confirmed cars present will include his Aston Martin DB5 with ejector seat from Goldfinger and the Lotus Esprit 'submarine' from The Spy Who Loved Me.

AC: The Centenary of AC will be honoured with a display of important models from the ex-Thames Ditton specialist car maker lined-up along the dunhill Driver's Club 'Walk of Fame'.

Makes you wonder how many centenaries' a single car maker can have ?

Anyway, the current AC display list for festival of speed walkway is as follows.

   1911 Sociable
   1928 Acedes Six
   1937 16/80
   1958 Ace-Bristol
   1959 Greyhound
   1666 Cobra 289
   1970 428 Frua
   1885 3000ME

Would be good to see a 2ltr Saloon and a 90's Brooklands ACE to emphasize the AC time-line !

I guess the overlap with Classic Le Man (same weekend) is likely to ensure that very few AC's will be participating / attending the festival of speed event this year.

Looking down your AC listing, I note the good Old AC3000ME was made in 1885,  Therefore the Centenary is well past celebration stage. infact it should be in the Mercedes Benz Museum at Brooklands

With over 100 club members attending the ACOC Gala Dinner at LeMans Classic on Friday 11th July... I think you might be a bit light on ACs at the Goodwood Festival of Speed............Some time in the future hopefully Goodwood & LeMans Classic will get there act together and not clash these superb Classic Motoring Events.

You've heard the expression   " Entent  Cordial "

We do communicate sometimes,  As Patrick Peter ( Main organiser of LeMans Classic / Tour Auto etc etc ) is a AC Ace Bristol owner and French AC Member, we often get preferrential treatment....

I know,  It's who you know  not What you know.

Have a good weekend....  See You at Brooklands Double Twelve  ????

I can`t even manage an Anglo/Celt agreement(with my little Welsh Dragon....who doesn`t look at the forum...I hope!) as far as attending such desirable events is concerned...[:(] I wonder what leek cordial tastes like?
