I guess it's CF31

The catalog confirms it is CF31.

The car had a bare metal respray in 2010 and claims it was on a good body.

Does anyone know anything about the early history of this car?
Has anyone seen the car in person and care to share an opinion?

   My biggest concern is rust.

   Thanks in advance,  Fred

They all will have had some rust, you have to inspect the car, take a magnet and go over carefully. Behind the front wheels, in the door jams and inspect the rear inner wings which seem to really rot on the roadster. The chassis is not prone to rust at all, check the outriggers going from the chassis to the sills and of course the floors. (Sills have been redone as they lack Jacking points) It seems that the wing lips are particularly prone to rusting so if the magnet does not stick around the wheel openings, you can bet they are full of lead or Bondo. They also are supposed to be quite angular, if the lips are rounded and don't stick out that much, watch out as well. But don't get discouraged, You would have to do the same thing if you were looking for any other Italian exotic.  Of course the history and who worked on the car can tell you a lot as well! On the photos, this car is magnificent, I hope it is just as nice as it looks. Let me know if I can be of any help.

   Good luck!

Actually the bumpers are supposed to be horizontal. Incidentally, looking at the photo of the rear, I can see a difference between series 1 and 2 cars. Mine which is a series 2 has a little spoiler at the back and the early ones don't. It may just be a photographic distortion. Good old Terry Thomas, he was hilarious!!

Interesting that the Maserati Mistral only made £61,600.

Mistral is not nearly as "exotic" as the AC and you can't compare a Mistral coupe to a Frua roadster. They made tons of Mistral coupes. Although it is a nice car, the Mistral does not have the AC's performance or Cobra based chassis.
