Ah yes, I forgot to mention the Daytona replica that was raced there in 1999 was it ?

Wasn`t that one of the 10 Daytona replicas that has been built on a 289 chassis ?

Thankyou for the back up that replicas are raced at such events.

Its quite simple really ,the cars were either built by AC or they were not built by AC ,I if they were not built by AC they are replicas, irrespective of the chassis design, as for the comments regarding the E Type that was crashed and the GT40`s,plus the other cars being replicas, I could not tell you whether they are replicas or not, as I have not researched these cars.

It is well known that certain Cobras being raced are replicas, as Mr Legate has pointed out some of these events can be quite accident prone events, with the original cars being worth so much money these days,it is very understanable that the owners dont want there pride and joy getting wrecked.

Who`s round is it, I will have a large brandy please .[^][^]

Here's why you don't race the real thing (or is it?):

Yes, that is a real Cobra,it is COB6041 the photos of Whizzo stuffing the car into the tyre wall were taken by my mate Richard.

The car had not long been repaired after being stuffed at Spa the previous year.

This is what the car looked like after being crashed at Spa the previous year.

Keep going like that and this Cobra would fall into the replica category as well...

And I'll stick with the Heineken!!

CRS9505

ouch (hope his insurance policy was up to date) maybe its also something to do with todays "replica" engine outputs and todays "legal" rubber vs the original performance available ...................what sort of replica is a Jägerbomb and would I drive it or drink it? [:o)]

Gus Meyjes

its the new German AC with a vette motor... It'll bomb..

CRS9505

Love the period b/w photo - about the only car you dont see in full racing trim now is the Borgward Station Wagon.........Enough beer its kebab time.[:o)]

Of course, Historic Racing can be tough on driver and machine, as demonstrated by 'Fearless' Frank Sytner, who suffered a heart attack in his Lola T70 towards the end of the 1000km race at the Donington Historic Festival in April. He is apparently making a good recovery now.
