Hi there AC team,

I wanted to make up a crank socket to help bar my 100D2 over. I have the steering conversion, space is limited, so I couldn't offer trial sockets up or measure into the pulley. I looked something up which gave me a size of 1 & 5/16".

I cut the end off a 1 & 5/16" box socket, and offered this up but it was significantly too small. I then turned back to the internet, but couldn't get a reliable answer to the size for a thick nosed crank. I'd guess it's more in the region of 1 & 1/2".

If some one can help with the correct size, that would be incredibly helpful.

James,
If you don't get a reply , I would ask IN racing as they have this in their parts manual.

ENG1024 13 Crankshaft Nut – Large nose (Replaces N333690)
ENG1024A 13 Crankshaft Nut – Small nose (Replaces N333470)

They also have a nut available without  the starting handle slot and shroud( will you , but that might be a headache to remove and fit correctly the new nut.

By steering conversion I take it that you mean rack and pinion and that means you can't use the starting handle to turn over?

You might be better modifying a 1/2" drive bar  to have a start handle end pin.

Hello,

The nut, with the slot for the starting handle, on my large nose crank accepts both a 1" socket and a 1" spanner (sourced some years ago thanks to Graham above).

Hope this helps.

Edited to add : the exact size of the spanner is : 1W 11/8BS
