The Hurlock family are adamant that AC Cars never built these EFX chassis in the 1960s. Very puzzling for spectators like me.

The AC Cars letterhead is "interesting". I looked up the postcode from the address line at the foot of the page and it is not recognised. Rather strange as the houses built on the factory site would normally inherit the old post code. Does anyone recognise the author's name M G Wright? It doesn't ring a bell with me. All rather strange. Andy.

I have received an email from one of our ACOC Members who wishes to remain anonymous, confirming that MG Wright was in fact Jock Wright who was Service Manager for AC Cars before Fred Larrimore. He cross referenced books by McLellan and Bancroft, and Rinsey Mills both of which mention Jock Wright. Another mystery solved!  Andy.

The Cobra Register introduction (ACOC website members area) reads:
Other Similar Chassis
AC made a further 98 Thames Ditton coil-spring chassis of similar design to the Cobra, but generally with longer wheelbases. They comprised:
•   81 AC 428 96" wheelbase chassis (see 428 Frua Register)
•   8 Electric Fuel Propulsion 90" chassis (EFX 501 to EFX 508)
•   5 Paramount Film chassis (three 135" and two 117") for the film Monte Carlo or Bust (COB6128 to COB6132)
•   2 Ghia convertible chassis (CSX 5001 and CSX 5002)
•   One 96" Ghia chassis (CS3063)
•   One 428-type chassis (believed to be 96") for Cam Classic Automotive Inc USA (MX-1).

AC made their own chassis: cutting and grinding was an in-house activity.

Hi, just to clarify, my father, MG Wright was Marcel Graham Wright commonly known as Jock Wright.
He worked at AC Cars post war as Service Manager and also Manager at the Casino Hotel Taggs Island.
He then became Sales Manager when Jock Henderson retired, with Assistant Manager Keith Judd.
He retired in July 1977.

John Hurlock has since acknowledged that M.G. Wright was Jock Wright, but he and his father Charles continue to insist that AC Cars never built the eight EFX chassis in question. The "conversation" about this on Facebook has been quite nasty at times, too.
