Good looking car. Anyone know the asking price?

Interesting that BEX282 is still up for Sale,  I thought Stefano in Switzerland was in process of negoiating to buy BEX282, in order to compete in/on the Mille Miglia 2010,  Having competed in 2004 in his Lagonda he has been actively looking for a pre 58 Ace Bristol since late last year in readiness for 2010 with wife as Co-driver.

Not sure of the ££s$$$ or Euro ?

Guess if I have to ask the price, I can't afford it!

The price of Good Ace Bristols has steadily increased  five fold over the past 9 years.

BEX288 a concourse (LHD)Ace Bristol, truelly immaculate inside outside, underneath and mechanically,  sold privately  earlier this year for £180,000.  Whilst  RS5003 Sold at auction last month for £209,000.(Inc Auction premium)

The poor value of the £ against the Euro and US $ has slowed the market a little , However the market is strong with many Aces being imported back to Uk and Europe especially France and Germany.

Many lost or little heard of Aces are finding there way onto the market as solid project cars, however the cost to fully restore Aces and even more so  Acecas is not always a viable proposition for Traders, but for the AC enthusiast who has certain skills and good contacts they are certainly a sound investment with the bonus of giving years of enjoyment. Both during the restoration and use thereafter

As you stated Peter, "If you have to ask the Price,  you can't afford it."  Lets hope the true AC enthusiasts continue to buy, restore and use their ACs to the full leaving the Classic Sports Car Investors to invest in other Marques.

Keith, I agree. 2 Ace Bristols sold in Monterey this year, one for $195K US, the other for $265K US, both inclusive of commission. If I ever decide to sell my house and live in a car, maybe I could get one then. Alas, I fear I will just have to admire them from afar....

BEX282 is now also being offered on eBay.

Current highest bid $ 52,900 with 4 days to go but I'm convinced it will easily pass the $ 126,100 mark for BEX1146.

The eBay listing looks very suspicious - car is listed being in Georgia and photos showing the Canepa license plate holder are deleted. Also no reserve indicated. This smells very bad.

Well spotted, Tom. I obviously didn't observe everything properly.
I noticed the pics are the same as before.

I agree, I doubt this is an honest auction. Especially at no reserve. Guess we'll see!

   Hi Nick

Yes we are aware that a FAKE ad is on Ebay now for the car. We have
reported it to Ebay and asked them to remove the ad

   Thank You

I had the same idea as Nik so asked Canepa the same question.
Unsurprisingly I also got the same answer!
Good to see the ad has been removed from eBay in the meantime.

I did the same thing. The poor guy must be fed up with answering the same question. I had to, as I'd hate to think someone lost their hard earned money like this!

I did though ask the price of the car at the same time. Its $250,000.00

   So Now we know!

BEX282 is offered once again on eBay but this time it seems to be the real deal. So is the buy it now price of $ 245,000.
There are some pictures (including one quite nice period one) that were not present before but Canepa's own website now also shows all these pictures.

This time it seems to be real coming from Canepa in Scotts Valley CA.

Interesting history as it once belonged to a well known American auto writer.

I saw a story some time back that his son would like to have it but it's now too expensive!
