Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs: 2011 Drive (or Ride) It Day

Drive It Day is always held on the nearest Sunday to 23 April. This date was chosen in 2005 to commemorate the 64 cars that set off from London on 23 April 1900 on the first day of the Thousand Mile Trial – an incredible undertaking and one which we believe deserves an annual celebration.

The 2011 Drive It Day 2011 date is Sunday 17th April. Though this date is not the closest to 23rd April it was decided that "Drive (or Ride) It Day" should be brought back by one week as the following Sunday is Easter Sunday

For those in/near Surrey, Brooklands Motor Museum is the nearest official event to London; details below.

"Brooklands Museum is welcoming any classic vehicle owners as part of Drive It Day.  There will be dedicated parking on the Museum site and £1 off our usual admission prices for all those arriving in a classic vehicle from 10am at our Campbell Entrance off Brooklands Road (the B374, SatNav KT13 0QN).

We are also holding one of our Brooklands Classic Breakfasts that day - a full English Breakfast will be served from 8am until 9.30am and is £13 for adults, £6.50 for children aged 5-12, entry for under 5s is free, unless they are eating breakfast, in which case they also pay £6.50.  Those attending the Breakfast are welcome to spend the rest of the day at the Museum - Motoring displays open at 9.30am, rest of the Museum including aircraft at 10am."

I'll be along to this in the morning.

Picked the AC Cobra up from DK Engineering this morning, but forgot about it running out of tax, so it's going to have to stay in the garage. I've had some racing exhausts fitted to it, so they're as good as straight pipes from the turbo's back - sounds like thunder now! I travelled 15 miles back from the garage and had ringing in my ears!!

Anyway - see you in the morning - I'll be in this:

James, sorry I missed you.  We saw your car but didn't spot you.  Better luck next time,

   Bruce

PS: The car looks great.  It's also quite easy to find in a crowded car park!

Hey Bruce,

Saw the car (+ John's) when I arrived, but couldn't find either of you!

Next trip out will be in the 212 S/C to Donnington for the Historics on the 30th & then the Goodwood Supercar Breakfast the next day.

Managed to get a few pics of the morning - very enjoyable:

Hi James,
Sorry not to see you yesterday, Bruce and I looked for you, but I guess you were over at Merc World. Nice to have the sun out yesterday [8D]
   Cheers - John.
