Shape of dashboard lower edge

I've noticed that some Aces have  a straight edge across the bottom of the dashboard as opposed to the more often seen version where the dash is shallower underneath the glovebox & curves down to produce a deeper section under the instruments & steering wheel.

Was the 'straight' dash only used on very early Aces - or is there another explanation ?

Just to clarify, these are the 2 different versions I'm referring to:

Mine is a 1957 and shows the deeper dashboard.  The 1955 Mille Miglia car shows the straight edge.

Thanks for your replies.

I've looked at many Ace dashboards to see if I could get a definitive answer but haven't been able to.

Most 1955 cars appear to have the more common dash with the deeper section on the driver's side - even some very early cars with the flat windscreen - & there doesn't seem to be any mention of the differences in Rinsey Mills' book.

Anyone else have any theories ?
