Hi Dale,
It might be worth contacting aceaceca (Ron Sykes), in his most recent posting of December 15th he mentioned that he was building up a CL engine from parts he has left over from  a couple of AC's he used to own. As he no longer has a car maybe he plans to sell the finished engine?

   Regards Luke.

Thanks Luke. I'll see what his intentions are...

   Cheers,

Hi again Dale, in my haste I forgot to add that this is all we have on the register for the car, so if you can add anything that would be good for future records. If you need any of the below deciphering, let me know. Many thanks, AlexG
AEX 162   Ford V8    02.07.56      Silver/Blue   To LA, USA   Silver/Blue   E Hess   USA   Discovered' March 2012. Original engine CL 2293

Not much to add at this point. The car is stripped of paint and has been for many years, possibly decades. It is now in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. At some point hopefully we can update with a new drivetrain and color...

Hi Dale, I would try Rod Briggs, advert in Action, or just go to:
   http://www.ac-6.co.uk/
What Rod doesn't have on AC engines probably isn't worth having!
   Good luck, AlexG

Excellent info. We'll get in touch with Rod.

   Thanks!

Still waiting for your response to my email...

Move on. If you have any questions, just ask Cobra Ned. Evidently he knows everything there is to know about Cobras...[:X]

Gullwing has landscapers and pool boys looking out for cars too. It's all about the network.

They did ok on the completely crusty 300 SL Gullwing at Gooding in Scottsdale...

AE162...someone started Cobra-izing many years ago it but never finished. SBF and transmission is in place. No wiring. Car is in ridiculously good condition...obviously stripped of any finish. Been in dry climate-controlled storage for years.

PM or email for more details...

Hi All. We're just finishing up on AE23 to get it back on the road and have come up against a bit of a quandary. As most know, AE22 and 23 were the first Aces off the assembly line and were shipped to America to be raced. We've got period race photos of AE22 thanks to Barry B and they show AE22 with a side exit exhaust. We presume AE23 had the same. What makes us think this is the exhaust manifolds on AE23 are different from the manifolds we have from AEX162. They've been cut short and angled differently. This would make sense as this would align with the exhaust setup on 22. Since the car will be driven periodically we're not sure a side exit exhaust with no muffler is what we want. Presumably it had some other exhaust on it after it was retired from racing. Has anyone got any historical photos of 23, prior to when it was restored? There are lots of post-restoration photos floating around but we'd love to see some earlier shots. There are also some missing blocks of history on the car. We'd love to fill some of that in if we can. Thanks!

Hi folks. AE23 is almost ready for the road but we need an exhaust system. We would rather get something that is made for the application than go to a muffler shop and get something bent up. We understand Quicksilver in the UK offers something in stainless. What other options are there?

   Thanks!

Hi folks. We're putting AEX162 back to its original configuration. We've been very fortunate in that we've recently managed to acquire many, if not all, of the pieces pulled off the engine when it blew up 50 years ago. We now have the intake manifold with carbs, exhaust manifolds, generator, radiator, fuel lines, linkage, radiator fan and a box full of smaller parts. What we don't have is an engine or transmission. Obviously a complete engine would be preferable so we don't have to source cam, crank etc, but we'll look at whatever you have. As well, a complete transmission is preferred but we'll look at what you have. Please email me at dale (at) focusauto (dot) com.

   Thanks!
