Hello,
I replaced the alternator of Mk IV by a strongen one (100 amps) and now I am completly confused with the many wires to be connected. Could you please share your wiring diagram with me.

Thanks and best regards from Switzerland,

The tuner did not change the plate but did change the number stamped on the block

Thanks for your answers. Actually, the AC identification tag shows identical numbers for the body and for the engine. Both is 1240. However, the original Ford engine had definitely a different much longer number. I don`t think that Ford used different number formats for the engines produced for the Mustang and for the AC Mk IV. Probably AC changed the original Ford production number into the AC engine number, and in my case this number has again been changed by the tuner.

Hi Paho,
Thanks for sending my the link to the homepage of Swiss customs. I read that already some time ago, but obviously not carefully enough. You are absolutely right, the CoC does`t seem to be an absolute pre-requisite. I will follow your advice and check directly with the Swiss authorities. Many thanks and best regards

Hi Rob, Thanks for your reply. I contacted info@accars.eu and received a prompt answer: Sorry we can`t help with a CoC. Clear statement. Worth a try. Thanks again and best regards from lake of Zurich

Hi Shep, the Avon ZZs have fantastic grip, however, they are extremely sensitive to flatten while standing. Already short periods lead to uncomfortable vibrations. So, keep your Mk IV moving. Kind regards from Frankfurt

I just found a German race tire dealer (contact below), who offers Avon CR6ZZ 225/60 VR15 for 265,- Euro plus tax per tire. I think that is a fair price.

Thanks for all the excellent recommendations. In the meantime I changed the diff oil (about 1.4 liters) and replaced it by Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90 plus around 100 ml Jaguar LSD additive.
So far no single strange noise anymore in narrow corners even after high speed on the "Autobahn". Have a nice day, Gentleman!

By the way, how much is the oil capacity of the Salisbury diff? According to the manual it is 3.12 litres. Flyinghorse / Graham states here in the forum that it only takes 1.5 litres. Actually, I ordered 2 litres .....

Thank you very much for that plenty of helpful information. Following your recommendations I ordered  Mobil SHC 75W-90 oil and the Jaguar additive and it arrived today. So, I will chance the diff oil within the days and replace it by a mixture of SHC 75W-90 plus additive. Will let you know whether it worked. Kind regards from Hermann and AK1240 (Frankfurt, Germany)

Steve Gray is considering re-manufacturing the correct original type so if you are interested, do get touch with him and let him know there is some demand out there.

Hello, I am owner of AK 1240 and I am looking precisely for the same AC badge. I hope someone has identified a source for it in the meantime. Kind regards from Farnkurt Germany, Hermann

Hello from Switzerland !
I am owning AK1240 build in 1988 originally with a 5.0 EFI engine with 224 HP.
One of the pre-owners in Germany let the engine tune according to Ford Motorsport specifications delivering >>400 HP with 4 Weber double carbs. Unfortunately, the tuner (American Car Service Düsseldorf) changes the Motor number.
Recently, I moved to Switzerland and there I need a "Abgaswartungsdokument" (emission control document) for the Swiss technical authority with the original Ford engine number. Has anybody an idea how I can find our what the original engine number for my Mk IV was?
   Best regards from Thunderbold

Hi Gentlemen,
I moved recently to Switzerland and my Mk IV lightweight Spec 1988 AK 1240 is still in Germany. For getting a registration in Switzerland I need a Certificate of Conformity (CoC). The car has a modified 302 engine with 4 Weber double carbs and produces >400 HPs. I have a complete set of German papers including all modifications.
However, I have no idea where I can get a CoC with the technical data fitting to my car. Who can help?
