Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC Aceca race prep.

Gus.  Happy to talk about re-building an AC Engine.  There is a certain person in the UK who professes to know what he is talking about but, when it actually comes down to doing it, he falls flat.  The best person in my opinion over here is Brian Taylor and I have also received good advice from Robin Woolmer. Brian is currently building a very high spec engine for me but, at the end of the day, you can't fit a quart into a pint pot, despite what some people would have you believe. You could end up spending a fortune without a lot of gain in BHP.

Many thanks for the info.  David Sanderson has proved invaluable on this  also.  The Dellany Gallay Heater boxes are proving impossible to find.
   Thanks

Ian.  Should you ever want to return to originality, I have a fully re-built (UMB1966) engine (done about 500 miles)which is currently in my ACE here in the UK.  This will be available in a few months once my CL unit comes back from re-build.  I also have a spare UMB block, set of of liners, rods and re-ground crank if that's of any interest. Does anybody out there have a Heater box for an ACE (any condition).  They were made originally by Delany Gallay and are of a square box type construction. I have a round type one which came out of a 2 litre saloon which I could fit but would prefer to go for the Dellany Gallay one.

Also,  I am looking for an original Motolita wooden steering wheel and boss for an ace.  Anybody got one they are willing to part with?

   Thanks

I believe about six were fitted to the ACE and mine AE206 also has one.  Does anybody know if an overdrive unit is available for these gearboxes as, if so, I would like to fit one.  I am led to believe that the internals of the gearbox are from a Triumph TR2/TR3 which were fitted to the AC Aluminium casting.
