ACOC News and Events / Online Membership

Thank you Terry,

Having just renewed after a lapse of more than a few years, I haven't received my latest ACtion since the renewal, so didn't realize the Regalia email address was there. I will look into it as soon as my ACtion arrives.

   Regards,

ACOC News and Events / Online Membership
March 23, 2012, 20:30:26
As an example, I had let my membership lapse for several years due to the difficulty of making overseas payments and time delays in traditional mail. Just stumbled on the online membership renewal via paypal and instantly renewed. Very happy to see this feature added.

One more thing that would be nice is if the regalia area had an online shop (or at least an email contact) for members, as well as more email addresses for officers, for those of us at considerable distance from the Club centre. It might help the timely exchange of information and bring revenue to the Club as more items might be sold. International phone service is still not practical due to time differences, never know when you might be bothering someone at an inconvenient time. With email, it is easy to just drop a note and have the recipient review it at their convenience.

   Best regards,
   Paul

I've received several comments indicating it should be ok to add the article here, so here is a link to the pdf file. If there is a problem with this let me know. Thanks to all who provided comments, both here and direct.

As a newbee to the forum (although a rather older member, joined ACOC around 1968/1969) I wanted to tread lightly, wasn't sure what the policy was regarding posting of articles from magazines no matter how old. Reason is that over the last day or so of reading thru some of the forums, I've seen lots of people offer to send people various pdf files, but none that were posted, so I thought maybe posting of such pdf files was not permitted. Didn't want to make any mistakes, especially since this is a UK based site. Just not sure of the rules yet. If someone can clarify the rules, I'd be happy to post it, or at least provide a link so people could download it at will.

Hello Stephan,

This is an old thread but if still possible, could you also send me the recipe no. for Black Pearl, which is what our Aceca Bristol should be. It was repainted red at some point, but still retains the original red (faded) leather.

Also, might you have the recipe no. for Metallic Blue? That is the colour of our Ace. Never been repainted, still the original colour but so faded as to appear almost grey. Still has the blue leather interior, but also very faded.

General Forum / ACOC Emblem change?
March 22, 2012, 11:51:16
I was thinking in terms of the fact that it is the older (I believe enameled) version, which I feel would look more "period" on an older AC. Both my current badges are the flat steel painted versions. Of course the more that I look at this picture..... if only I had a 16/xx Sports to put it on!!

General Forum / ACOC Emblem change?

My goodness Nik, has it been that long already?? Time flys when it comes to ACs' !!

Thanks for the welcome back and the pointer to the badge on eBay. I think rather than hoard it to myself, I will look into having my badges re-done. That eBay badge really belongs on a PVT or something else early, not our modern Aces' and Acecas' [;)].

Sorry to hear about the troubles between Acedes Holdings and the ACOC. Seems like a real tragedy that the original close relationship seems to have developed a slight fracture with the new management. Guess I've missed quite a bit over the last few years.

Glad to be back and hope to be more active now.

My being fresh to the on-line forums, I haven't run across this article, but in case it has already been covered, please let me know.

While searching thru some documents tonight I came across my original edition of Sports Cars Illustrated magazine, August 1959. One of the lead articles is "Competition Tuning: The AC Ace-Bristol".  The article itself is titled "Play Your Ace" by Dennis May. The article focuses on VPL442 and Ken Rudd. It contains several pictures of VPL442 and Ken, as well as some details on modifications to VPL442s chassis, body and Bristol engine.

I don't believe I have read this article in over 40 years, so it was almost as if I was reading it for the first time.

If it does not violate any conditions of the ACOC and Forum rules, I am willing to scan the article into a .pdf format in case anyone would be interested in receiving a copy. I don't know if this article, being taken from a magazine, albeit over 50 years old, would also be allowed, or even desired, in the "articles" section of the Members Area. Advice on this would be appreciated.

If a .pdf copy of this is permitted, at least sent between forum members, contact me direct w2ec at arrl dot net and I will be glad to send you a copy.

General Forum / ACOC Emblem change?
March 21, 2012, 12:04:01
I've been away from the club many years and see there is a new version of the ACOC club emblem. I was wondering when the new emblem was adopted? Here is the emblem I am familiar with, I have one on each of the grills for our Ace (AEX200) and Aceca Bristol (BEX590). I believe we added them to the cars back in the late 1960's, maybe early 1970's. The old ones have gotten a little weather beaten over the last 40 or 50 years (kinda like us) and I was wondering if the old style badges were still available, or just the new ones. Just curious.
